Notes for 2018 ‘N’ (no sulfur) bottling - not hitting for me! The 2016 N is one of my favorites but the couple of bottles I’ve had of this vintage have been off the mark. Jammy one-dimensional fruit, not much acid or structure to speak of and a washed out sorta messy finish. Oh well, still looking for more 16s!

Much nicer than my prior experience, which gives me certainty that that bottle was off (the risks of no sulphur). pretty with lots of light brambly fruit, spice and mineral undertone, but for me there’s a lot of added subtlety outshadowed by the moderate funk

Not doing it. The natural wine funk from no sulphur prevails over everything. None of the fruit note I was expecting

The wine presents itself with a clear crimson red and light rim. There is at first some fizziness that goes away with some time and swirls. I found the VA to be quite high and affecting the experience, the wine tasted almost musty. Almost thought the wine was faulty. The second day the VA was less pronounced and I could detect dark fruit, iron, black tart cherry, and savory elements. Tannins not really making a presence and acidity was supporting well the finish which I found to be quite persistent. Overall, I think I prefer the regular version and hopefully I can do a side by side comparison next time!
