Marcel Lapierre
Julienas Gamay
A bit of barnyard on the nose, ripe purple-red fruit on the palate, some baking spice. Solid; not as clean nor nearly as good as the Morgon to my palate.

Aug 21st, 2021Dense and seamless. Feels less ‘cold carbonic’ than the Morgan.

Apr 10th, 2019Very young release, fresh off the boat. Hopefully this will show some development in bottle in the near term. Right now simply not showing the Lapierre touch.

Nov 13th, 2018This is pretty stylish wine. Nose of red fruits, cranberry, hay, flowers, palate is bright and succulent with incredible freshness and purity. Exquisite fruit and balance. Exceptional wine. A thing of beauty.

Aug 10th, 2018Vivid magenta. Potent black raspberry, cherry and violet scents show excellent clarity and pick up smoky mineral and peppery spice accents with air. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and red berry flavors that show a suave blend of depth and energy. The floral note repeats strongly on the very long, seamless finish, which features silky tannins and a touch of candied licorice. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2018)

Aug 31st, 2017Fresh off the boat and super young, but doesn't have (or hint at) the Lapierre fairy dust. Tasty Beaujolais, but rather four square and not worth the tariff. I'll revisit in a few months, and I hope I'm proven wrong and this blossoms into something more recognizable as Lapierre.

Jul 26th, 2017Fresh strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, roses, slight white pepper. Snapping acidity, light medium bodied, juicy-silky texture, fruity finish. Clean, polished interpretation of gamay. Fruity, pretty and straight to the point.
