Vintage 2011 / what a totally different wine #sangiovese can give from one terroir or the other in #tuscany. This #morellinodiscansano is made with 85% sangiovese and 15% cabernet sauvignon and canaiolo. Very different compared with eg chianti. The wine gives beautiful red fruit / cherries when opened, clearly tannins even after 8 y, and a characteristic nice bitterness. It’s not easy, a wine with character. After 4 to 6 hours aeration the wine has softened, shows spicyness. I love this docg/origin especially when it has ripened.

Delicious. Nose is closed but very explosive on the palate. red berries with lots of savory notes, smoky charcuterie and warm spices. longish finish with medium tannins.
