Côte du Py Morgon Gamay Noir
Morgon, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceStill plump and fruity as I recalled but also someone a hint of refermentation prickle on the tongue. This has been well stored in my cool cellar, so maybe drink sooner?

Nice structure that really develops with 30+ minutes of air. Macerated raspberries and strawberries. Bright and sanguine. Some whole cluster crunchiness. Not bad for $20.

Oct 9th, 2020Yummy, but simple. Seems like new world ripeness That makes this taste more like Oregon or Cali coastal than old world. I suppose this could be rated higher, but it's not what I look for in old world/burgundy.

Ripe, juicy. Lots of stuffing. Typical Beaujolais aromatics, but the finish is tannic and grippy. Good representation of Morgon Gamay

Needs a little air, but develops quite nicely. Nose has deep rich cherry fruit, almost pungently deep, and intense granitic minerality. The minerality is quite saline in the mouth, and is accompanied by intense dry fruit extract. If the acidity were just a smidge higher, this would be off the charts. As is, however, it’s really good. Will actually be better in another year or three.

Light and lively fruit, with a bit of earthiness that makes it interesting enough. Acidity is a bit flat, as @Tom Casagrande noted on an earlier vintage. Nice with baked brie and Benny Goodman.

Feb 20th, 2026Another nice Cote du Py Morgon I tried recently, a tad more austere than some other similar examples from the region but still a nice wine for the price!
