Maison Albert Bichot
Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay
Blind Tasting no1. No one pegged this as Chardonnay and definitely not Burgundy. We were mostly stumped but the predominate ‘wild stab’ guess was Pinot gris. Just did not notice any malolactic.
It’s a clear but dull pale straw color with delicate aromas of tropical fruit skins and a mineral /brine vibe. Dry juice with medium acidity. Tart apples and pear, a touch of citrus, and a kiss of vegetal characteristics. Medium finish.
Did not drink like a standard Burgundian white…

Nice simple style Macon with subtle acidity and minerality. Gentle fruit flavours; pear, peach, honey. Good length, great value.

Apr 29th, 2020Apple, pear, citrus fruit, toasty lees contact, great acid and seems like it went through malo. Great bargain wine.

Nice nose of white flowers, lemon zest, citrus, minerals and white pepper.
Medium bodied and crisp, with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with lemons, citrus, green apples, melons, white pepper, minerals, spices and herbs.
Medium plus in finish with almonds and limes.
A nice Chardonnay from Burgundy. This is a good food wine, balanced and enjoyable. Good quality, refreshing and crisp. Good wine to sip on, by the pool, too.
I paired it with shrimp cocktail. The spiciness of the cocktail sauce and the wine went great together. Great for a nice Sunday afternoon.
13% alcohol by volume.
