Xisto Ilimitado Douro Red Blend

Pretty meh.

This wine deserves a lot more credit than I’ve afforded it in the past. Seabra is doing great things, and this is a wholly original Douro offering. Burgundian?

Fresh white fruit and tight acidity. Appetizing.

Lovely! Cherry, blueberry, pomegranate, violets, touch of pepper, herbs. Bright, balanced, tannins are mostly integrated.

Interesting as a lighter style red blend from the Douro. Has a fine tannin grittiness, & small black berry approach that is very seductive to this palate. Most analogous to a Moulin A Vent. About 750 cases produced & usually found in restaurants, so quite blessed to drink w friends at Sunset.

Deep purple; medium intensity aromas of restrained black fruit, savory tomato leaf, smoke; medium acid, medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus body, medium intensity flavors consistent with aromas; good

Tastes like a Burgundy. Not a stellar Burgundy. But a Burgundy nonetheless.

Medium bodied with tart, tangy red fruits and high acidity. Chalky and mineral. Sweetheart candy. Underripe. Structured, so maybe this just needs time? Don’t really know what to do with this right now.

Quite the blend I feel like if an açaí bowl, with all the fun garnishes, including flowers, was made wine, it would be this.
