Luciano Sandrone
Barbera d'Alba
Moderate to low intensity and complexity on nose. Palate showed ripe red and black fruit with good density. Slight cooked note. Medium character. Edgy structure and lacked balance. Short finish. #sandrone #barbera #ctbucklinwine

Jan 29th, 2018If you find yourself in Piedmont, Sandrone is a must visit. This 08 is just starting to come around. It still needed an hour plus in the decanter. The 08 starts with very dark cassis, dark cherries with light red red fruits bringing up the rear. There's eucalyptus, menthol, herbs, dark sweet spice, sweet soft leather, a presence of black licorice anise, used coffee grounds, black tea, dry dark florals, clove, tobacco leaf & a touch of nutmeg. There's nice structure, balance, length & acidity. The finish is polished, full w/ rich dark fruits that lasts a full minute. Still has 10+ years of good life. Paul T if your viewing, another solid bottle from Benchmark...still batting 1000.

Black tea, olives, licorice. Great acidity. Needs food

1 person found it helpfulNov 16th, 2014This 2013 Sandrone Barbera d'Alba is a wonderful expression of the Barbera grape and Piedmont.
The notes of cherry, red raspberry, red currants, lavender, leather, green herbaceous notes, and damp soil.
On the palate is dark cherry, red raspberry, tart cranberry, plum, cassie and chewy wet soil.
This wine has a beautifully full mouth feel yet romantically seamless. There is medium + acidity with finely grained tannins that provides a good long finish.
This wine is not expensive and provides the sense of place on looks for in a more expensive nebbiolo. Have a great week and be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Not enough acidity to meet my Barbera expectations.

Deep color. Heavy extraction and tannin. Strangely green parsley or basil. While on that palate it seems riper. Big tannins. #barberadalba #italianwines
