Wonderfully perfumed, the 2021 Chardonnay Bunker Hill opens with a cascade of dusty florals and sweet herbs, as flinty stone contrasts hints of white peach and sage. This is seductively round and textural with depths of sapid ripe stone fruits and liquid rock minerality. A lemony concentration lingers as the 2021 finishes long and lightly structured, leaving a minty freshness that punctuates the experience perfectly. The Bunker Hill is a real charmer. We are not worthy of this wine. Paired side-by-side with 2016 Walter Scott Bunker Hill. (Same vintage, same vineyard, different producers!) Drinks like a Burgundian Chardonnay. Wonderful reduction here lends itself to a touch of sulfur on the nose with a blend of melon and some tropical fruits. Great combo. Seems like plenty of malo action too - lovely balance of cream and minerals. Some vanilla, peach, and lots of citrus tang. We kept trying it and it kept changing. So much fun.

Really compelling. Powerful, complex, well integrated. Great citrus snap up front weaving in juicy orchard fruit, green herbs (is it chervil? I think it might be!) marine elements and finishes with a dollop of rich buttery lees

Solid. Not as complete as the 2016. Less staying power.

Becoming a big fan of these wines which can fool the best tasters to believing it’s high quality Burgundy...Precision and elegance, lemon lime, fresh herbs, sea salt and minerals. Finishes with very good length and focus. No decant, slow oxed for 3 hours.

First planted in 1995, the Bunker Hill Vineyard is located in the Salem Hills and benefits from the cooling winds of the Pacific Ocean through the Van Duzer corridor. The resultant wine starts off with aromas of vanilla, crème brûlée, peat moss, and ripe pineapple. The minerality and intensity to this wine is highly satisfying, as is the richness and brightness shines through. Poached pear, marzipan, crème brûlée and apricot flavors come to mind, as the wine showcases an exotic edge. Drink 2019-2029- 94
