Vermont Marquette
What a pleasure to be working out of Vinous/Delectable HQ this week in NYC, and to be tasting my first Vermont wine in the process. This Marquette boasts a lovely dusted rose, hibiscus aroma - backdropped by an intensely bright through line of acidity. Cheery and very food friendly.

Apr 25th, 2018Our office Vermont champion @Julia Geisler brought in this unusual wine. The third from the state that I've now tried. Median to light bodied, tart cherry, a little lacking on the midpalate but quite pleasant. Unusual for being from Vermont, and the grape varietal.

Apr 25th, 2018Would be more 86-88 if not for one minor flaw. The plum, berry and mocha notes mixed with herbs and earth remind me of a Cotes du Rhone. Sappy and juicy with good acidity. Their is a lingering tar or burnt wood note that I don't like. Not sure if that is normal but I find this a lot in wines from the East Coast.

Feb 10th, 2015Another from my local VT winery. Almost a hint of cinnamon on the nose? Bitter bitter bitter, spicy, sassy, and short (am I describing a wine or Peggy Olson?)

Apr 25th, 2018Interesting flavors... start out very sour/disruptive to the palate, but after the first blush, it settles into a nice, tart flavor with hints of spice, apple and lemon

Apr 25th, 2018Light nose, dark red with a dry medium to full body that is not complex, still very nice with a short aftertaste. I could not identify the grapes, but it would have fit in with many CDR wines in a tasting. A 8.9 wine.
