Nov 17th, 2018Inky black and highly extracted. Blackberry, licorice and mocha ooze from the glass. Layer upon layer of black fruit, garigue spices, penetrating minerality stitched together with piercing acidity. The ripe, juicy, thick fruit laden with a glycerin like weight hammer home an inexplicably long finish. #pasorobles #grenache #wine #wineporn

1 person found it helpfulNov 19th, 2021Close to perfect for a big paso wine. This is what big, juicy reds that melts in your mouth, not in your hand are all about. Incredible nose with eucalyptus, mint oil and black fruits. On the palette a deep luscious profile that keeps on giving. Blackberry, oak and spices galore. Exceptional in its style.

Dec 23rd, 2016Gorgeous GS blend from Paso! Tightly wound even after a five hour decant, opened nicely once in the glass. Multidimensional blend. Candied cherry, wet sand and creme de cassis. Sip reveals a velvety soft spoken mouthfeel yet power and finesse are present. Figgy pudding, incense and blackberry paste that weave exceptionally soft tannins. Finish hides behind the sip, present yet not big-pure and refined. Nice work @Law Estate Wines

Sep 21st, 2016Unabashedly huge. Cherry jam, red licorice, blackberry liqueur, currant preserves, Rosemary, anise, pipe tobacco, and a soft tilled soil quality. Big smoke component on the palette. Dark flavors but a surprising dollop of acidity on the finish. The high alcohol does lend to a pleasing viscosity. Not my favorite style of wine but I can see why they are gaining notoriety.

Sep 20th, 2014The 2019 isn’t aging as well as I expected it would. The limestone minerality that characterizes the Law wines has mostly faded. Sage and chocolate on the nose. Without the calcaire, the fruit and the thick tannins are fully expressed. It now has the consistency of a high-end cab or zin. It’s still very nice, but I miss the mineral astringency. I’m giving it an 8.9. I need to open another 2019 to see if this is a pattern or an anomaly.
