Divisive. Some folks thought “strict” , “ not balanced”. I enjoy this style but imo requires food. Lots of citrus , stones and zest. Fruit mostly on the nose along with some nutty aromas. Clenched finish, maybe time fixes that? I don’t know.

Popped and poured to celebrate my nephew’s 10th birthday. The 2013 Larmandier-Bernier “Terre de Vertus” pours a light straw color with medium- viscosity and a persistent moose. On the nose, intense aromas of tropical fruit: passion, fruit, lychee, along with lemons and brioche. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+, bordering high acidity. The texture gives off an oily character. Confirming the notes on the nose with some significant chalky minerals on the long finish. A delicious BdB and should drink very well for many years to come; likely through 2030. This bottle was disgorged in October of 2019

Love the combination of ‘09 richness and non-dosage / BdB lightness. Brilliant champagne. Green apple, lemon curd, apricot, a little biscuit dough and chalk

A real treat of a wine, deliciousness in a bottle. An intense copper, pink color with small bubbles. An intoxicating nose of black cherries, wild strawberries, and smoke. There’s a very nice mix of fresh herbs and spices here, as well. Shrubbery and floral accents.

Mostly Pinot Noir from Vertus along with 10% Pinot Gris, made in the Saignée style. Thrilling and quite vinous with enough of that customary Larmandier-Bernier raciness and tension. Such a beautiful mouthfeel and so incredibly fresh. A fine attack with zippy acidity and impressive length.

Plenty of fruit on the palate but never descending into a fruit bomb. Just a touch of biscuits with more smoke and more pronounced earthiness. Truly, a splendid wine. One I could drink everyday but it’s so much better shared.

Drank well, but just not as precise as the Brochet.
