Top Notes For
Sipping Fine Wine

Blend of 70% Picotendro (local Nebbiolo), Neyret, Cornalin & Fumin, Ruby with aromas lively fruit, floral and spice. On the palate flavors of red berry fruits with earthy herb spice. Medium finish, fine tannins, generous acidity ending with fruit and spice.

I usually don’t give points because let’s face it, points are bullshit but given the shade here I feel the need to adjust. This wine has much bang for the buck and definitely speaks to place. When I first put my nose in the glass I thought this was alpine wine. It is. And that’s how it tastes. And it is really tasty. Crunchy red fruit but soft and easy drinking with nice alpine green and spice. Solid. Don’t trust the haters.

A blend of Picotendro, which is basically Nebbiolo and three other local indigenous varietals that I have no experience with. A touch awkward on the pop and pour, coming across a bit too green for my taste. Day 3 was better but still very simple. Under-ripened crunchy red fruits with an almost carbonic quality to it. Some pepper and herbs. It paired well with our lasagna but was difficult to enjoy on its own unless it was as an aperitif on a warm sunny day in which it would be a quaffer for sure. Fun wine though and super authentic so I can dig it.

Blend of Picotendro (Nebbiolo) with the balance made up of Fumin, Neyret, Gros Vien and Cornalin. Light ruby color. Nose is loaded with spice (pepper and baking) along with a bit of dark cherry. Palate features dark cherry fruit with a very spicy finish. Well integrated tannins. Wine is pretty simple but quite drinkable. Thank you, Ron B for serving this one.

Nebbiolo like, high acid, firm tannins, hibiscus, cranberries, brown color. Tabaco black pepper, natural wine, unfined or unfiltered. Sunflower seeds

Blend with local Nebbiolo. Maybe less mineral than 2019. Good tar/roses, brambles, apple, some wet steel, very mellow tannins and acids, pretty young. From Amaro Spirits and Wine. 01/26//22
