Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos Furmint Blend

Vintage 2016 | Mesmerizing Tokaji with enormous level of vibrant acidity that makes it so alive and kicking. Must buy more. Paired with Apple Betty. 🌞🙏

The first Tokaji Aszú (toh-KAY ah-SOO) wine was created in the 1600s, perhaps by accident - a harvest delayed by threat of enemy invasion. Beautiful deep gold color with pronounced sweet stone and citrus fruits with notes of baked bread. On the palate ripe apricot and peach flavors with candied orange peel and herbal notes. High acidity, well balanced, long finish complex ending with nutty earthy character. Has ample room to develop. Keep this in the cellar for a while. Tasting Sample.

Apricot, ripe peach, apricot, ripe peach.... so good. Acid big enough to hold everything in place. Amazing.

Still nice freshness in this 5 Puttonyos example. Oxidative style but with nice purity of fruit & finely balanced acidity.

Sultana bran, fruit toast were super noticeable, not sure if it needed some more air because it was certainly unexpected usually these look so fresh and pure. There was some marmalade in there, either way I quite liked what it was showing

Peach. Lilly's. Lavender. Stones.

Vibrant and high-toned. Drips candied citrus and apricot -- an undoubtedly sweet way to end the night...

It turns out you can find a decent wine for a good price at the airport duty free shop. Maybe I should stop making sweeping wine proclamations...

Perfect sweet wine to wrap up dinner, nice complexity.
