Koutsoyiannopoulos
Santorini White Blend
One of Greece’s best kept secrets. Love the Koutsoyannopoulos wines. For fans of Hatzidakis and Sigalas.

Aug 20th, 2021Surprised its richness and weight on the palate. Considerably oily, driven by phenolics of green almond, olive, and wax. Subtle nose, lemon, a touch of fennel, petrol. Certainly saline. Seems to have considerable lees integration. Curious on the blend because the acidity seems a touch soft for an Assyrtiko dominant wine.

Feb 10th, 2020Sad to say this because it’s not exactly an overly hyped region, but I’ve been repeatedly disappointed with Greek island/Santorini whites recently. This one has fine mineral, citrus and white flower aromas but then it just sits dead on the palate. So many taste of commercial yeast and an “international” winemaking style lacking vibrancy.

Jul 5th, 2016Holy Assyrtiko batman. This makes all the other Assyrtiko I have ever tried seem vapid, sorry no offense intended.
Leesy, cheese curds, dried apricots, white lilies and minerals for miles.
Palate attack is beautiful, unctuous yet still snappy, with almost menthol or camphor backnotes, topped by dried apricots and white flowers all bound by intense minerality.
