Knudsen Vineyards
Dundee Hills Pinot Noir
Don’t let the screwcap fool you - this is a serious pinot. Intense and wonderful aromas of raspberry pie and a floral bouquet. Generous tannins lead to a medium body with great structure alongside warm flavors of cracked pepper, allspice, and earthly delights. Plenty of fruit too, ripened cherry and raspberry are most dominate, a little ripened strawberry too. It keeps opening and expressing itself in new ways with each passing sip.

Nov 13th, 2022Day 3 on this and it’s still intensely flavored and layered—pretty red fruit, bright and fresh; floral, with lots of acid and soft tannins. Lovely after a long day digging around in the garden dirt. Pair with a book of sensual short stories.

Jun 17th, 2018The Knudsen Vineyards Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a new project, as the fruit grown by the Knudsen family has been sold almost exclusively to Argyle for years. Feminine and quite pretty in its expression, the nose imbued with freshly plucked rose petals, strawberry compote, incense and spice. On the palate, one can find darker fruit and refined tannins, a dusting of earth and leather, and a wonderful pop of black peppercorn on the finish, likely owing to the Pommard in the blend. Sample

Sep 22nd, 2015Day 1 more savory, but super nice. Oak is way in the background. Day 3, fruit emerges in front, still very nice. Only thing holding back from "love it"? A bit pricey for a newcomer.

Aug 5th, 2023Really great- baking spices and cedar plank on the nose mixed with mild plum or blackberries. Fruit is still balanced and secondary on the palate, with earthy, woody tones and mild tannins but not weak. Very well balanced and light to medium bodied, but not thin.
