When a friend says he’s gonna make some great steaks, sometimes wine just come to mind. This one’s been in the cellar for a while, and is a good reminder to check in with Lou and Louis. Made from one of Napa’s great historical vineyards this is a phenomenal rendition of Cabernet Sauvignon. Cigar box and graphite mix with aromas of black cherries and dried flowers. Flavors of cedar and dried flowers, pencil shavings, cherry and tobacco are draped in gauzy tannins and bright with juicy acidity that leaves a hint of dried orange peel in the finish. Absolutely regal.

Pronounced "Cup-chon-dy,” blend of 72% Cab Sauv, 19% Merlot & 9% Petit Verdot, aged 80% in new French oak dark Ruby with aromas of berry fruit, sweet herb and tobacco spice. On the palate flavors of cherry, ripe blackberry and currants with notes of cacao and a bit of vanilla oak. Long finish, soft ripe tannins ending with lush fruit and mineral character Drink now & over next decade.

Day one dark vibrant red fruit was the star merlot showing heavy day two cab came back strong with chocolate and cassis day three all edginess dissipated still showing well. I’d say open at lunch and decant for dinner at this point in its maturity

The 2012 Kapcsandy 'Estate Cuvée' begins with striking aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, spring florals, graphite and crushed stones all emerging beautifully from the glass. On the palate this displays wonderful elegance and precision. It continues to impress with remarkable overall structure, balance and purity of fruit, all leading up to the long, graceful finish that lingers effortlessly. A total beauty from Kapcsandy, which will thrive in the cellar for many years.

We knew it was going to be a big night when you start here. Yes, perhaps the 2015 is not as developed as it will be in a few years, but it is still impressive. Perfect color, decanted for 45 minutes allowed the early nose to blow off and then you could get the bright blueberry and cassis flavors to come forward. Gets an extra point because it will be better later.

Spectacularly smooth mix of pencil lead, cherry, pipe tobacco and cola. Fantastic acidity and balance. One of the best.
