Powerline Estate Syrah
Rose petal, red fruits, a hint of spearmint. Would pair amazingly well with spiced lamb or Moroccan food. An excellent wine and well priced @ $45/btl

Sep 23rd, 2020Very strong peppercorn. And stewed violets. Nailed it with Thanksgiving turkey. After decades of multigenerational exhaustive research... earthy domestic Rhône blends are the way to go on Thanksgiving!

Nov 30th, 2019My contribution for the evening. This was powerful after 2.5hrs in the decanter and EPITOMIZED WA state Syrah. A mix of Cayuse funk on the nose with more ripe producers on the palate. No fox fur type notes, but very stemmy (100% whole cluster) crusted by black peppercorn and black olive tapenade. Blood/iron rich at the front and mid palate before it turns more blue and black fruit dominant with a touch of sweetness. More savory than fruity with smoked brisket and jerky but a nice balance of baked fruit. Drinking fantastic right now. Runner up for Wine Spectator’s Wine of the Year in 2017.

Nov 29th, 2017Needs some decanting time, but once it opens up, another outstanding vintage of this wine. Fruit is from the Walla Walla AVA. Violets and cooked red fruits on the nose. Those same cooked red fruits on the pallet, as well as notes of tobacco, beef jerky, herbs and graphite. Enormous potential! Revisited in June 2020. Notes above still apply. Still needs a decant, but once it opens up.....WOW! Revisited again in July 2021. Now getting big notes of dark chocolate on the finish. Getting better with age. Revisited again in April 2022. Additional aromas of bacon and some added black licorice and black olives on the pallet. Continuing to evolve.
