M.C.K Motor City Kitty Syrah

Good balance. Smooth Rhone.

A big and complex Syrah. Nose has intense cracked black peppercorn, Asian five spice, dark gravel, and pungent purple berry. Very full in the mouth, deeply savory, not a hell of a lot of fruit, long finish with a little alcoholic pepperiness peeking through.

Hoisin sauce, spiced bramble fruits, fennel, and balsamic vinegar nose gives way to savory herbs, boysenberry and blackberry fruits, and peppery game jerky flavors.

Super impressive Washington Syrah pegged this as a northern Rhône - really nice spice boysenberry , beef jerky , spice , stoneyness ,licorice - would have been wonderful with

Nice Rhône style Syrah. Some Bret. Needs time to come into its own.

Interesting flavors on this Walla Walla Syrah. Savory black olive backed up by sage and leather notes are most prominent at first, before the luscious, brambley dark fruit starts showing up (think blackberries). As it opens, the fruit comes on stronger. This is fantastic Syrah.

Well integrated and well made. The fruit here is served with a side of dust and tannin. Tastes like cool climate syrah, though big in body.

Second bottle this week. Extraordinary. Vivid. Mouthwatering. Perfumed nose of campfire grilled meats, plum backed up with bramble fruit, freshly grated ginger, and toasted sesame oil. Structured, showing beautiful balance with sweet tannin and a long savory finish. This is the bottle that makes me happy that the wine drinking public still doesn't know Syrah or Washington. If they did, this wine would cost two to three times as much. Even elicited a "This IS good" from my father, the world's most unimpressed wine critic (shoulder shrug = 93 points).

Impressive, wasn’t sure when I first popped it but with time it showed it’s layers. Black olive, stone, bramble, black raspberry, blueberry. Chock full of fruit and oak but has dimension.

Great with spicy dinner...
