Stunningly gorgeous! 2 hour double decant!!

Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruit, oak, floral and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and ripe jammy cherry with notes of cedar, cacao, tobacco and lots of floral vanilla spice! Fine soft tannins, well balanced with acidity, long finish ending with fruit, oak, sweet spice, with floral earthy presence, elegant! It’s just starting to open, enjoy now and should continue to age well for next decade.

Yup!! 2000 Backus!! I really don’t know how I can talk about this one. Perfection! This is what gives Napa a great name! Soft elegant earthy dark fruit elegant, perfect balance. End of story.

Soft nose. Black rolling fruit elegant soft tannins. Rich milk chocolate Perfect acidity.Still a little bit tight. Will definitely benefit from a few years in the bottle.

Great balance. Still has plenty of time. Delicious and drinkable.

The nose show lean, stewed fruits. While it is always a treat to drink their older vintages, this one probably better served 5 years early. Still enjoyable. Blackberries, dry, dark cherries, rhubarb, bright cherries, ripe strawberries, old leather & tobacco, limestone minerals, cedar to saddle-wood, steeped tea, touch mint & dry herbs, crushed dry rocks, underbrush, forest floor with withering, dry red floral bouquet.

The body is lean and very well resolved tannin structure. The tension, structure, length has lost some their step. Blackberries, dry, dark cherries, rhubarb, bright cherries, ripe strawberries, old leather & tobacco, limestone minerals, cedar to saddle-wood, steeped tea, touch mint & dry herbs, crushed dry rocks, barnyard, pine twigs, underbrush, forest floor with withering, dry red floral bouquet. the acidy is nice. The finish while fun, interesting has lost some of its flare but, again, still enjoyable.

Nose reveals, bright dark & mid red, candied/floral fruits of; blackberries, loads of dark cherries & strawberries, black plum, dry cranberries and hints of blue fruit on the high nose. Black licorice, dark fruit roll ups, bright red cola, dry crushed limestone minerals, Provence herbs, dark, rich, turned earth, light; fresh tobacco, leather volcanic minerals, alluvial soils with bright dark, red and blue florals.

The body is full with soft, sweet, round tannins. The tension, structure, length and balance are just hitting their groove. Bright dark & mid red, candied/floral fruits of; blackberries, loads of dark cherries & strawberries, black plum, dry cranberries, hints of blue fruit on the high nose. Black licorice, dark fruit roll ups, bright red cola, dry crushed limestone minerals, Provence herbs, dark, rich, turned earth, light; fresh tobacco, leather, cedar, volcanic minerals & alluvial soils. Bright dark, red, blue florals with violets and lavender. The acidity is round and nicely executed. The long finish is ripe, ruby, well balanced with a sort sham rag texture on the long set.
