Named after Pepe (José) Zuccardi, who runs winery alongside his son Sebastián, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon added, deep Ruby with aromas of dark red fruits, baking spice and floral notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with licorice, herb pepper and oak. Fine chalky tannins, lively acidity, long finish ending with fruit, spice and mineral notes. Nice!

The 2016 is special. Great length on the palate with an extra extended finish. Needs a big huge ribeye to balance off this massive black fruit mouth feel.

On the palate flavors of black cherry, currants and blackberry fruit with herb, cacao, cedar and pepper spice. Firm soft tannins, well balanced, good acidity, long finish ending with fruit, oak & spice. Nice!

I love that there’s already a movement in Argentina to dial back over-the-top Malbec. Remember Australian Shiraz?
This 2013 from Sebastien Zuccardi pays homage to his grandfather José. Fermented in concrete vats and then aged in large, neutral oak foudres. The fruit is noticeably black, rich and ripe, yet there’s a measured amount of restraint, and it’s that mid-weight approach that allows for a plethora of floral and mineral notes to shine. Extraordinary for the $ (just under $40).

We had the 2019 Vintage on 2/13/24 at Fervor in Buenos Aires. The wine needed about 15 minutes of air. The tannins smoothed out. Blackberry, plum and spice. Full bodied. Fruit forward. Very good
