Deep Ruby with medium + aromas of black fruits and spice. On the palate black currant, blackberry and black cherry flavors with cinnamon and eucalyptus notes. Full-body with vivid acidity, grippy full tannins on long finish. Needs some bottle age to soften, very good, nice value. Tasting Sample.

Pretty restrained and balanced, part of my recalibrating of what's coming out of Australia these days. A little minty, and showcasing the herbal/pepper side of cabernet, along with modest red current and plum. Interesting.

Happy #CabernetDay w/ 12 Jim Barry Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon "The Cover Drive" comes from the southern boundary of Coonawarra where the old Penola cricket was located, hence the label. Not too minty on the nose with more dusty earth and aromatic blue & black fruits. Very nice balance with moderate body, ripe fruit, bright acidity and fine-grained tannins that give the impression of power and focus.
