Perfect age. A Fremiet that would have been great years ago but perfect now. Fruity espresso with a tannic cushion.

1999 vintage. Oldest burgundy in my cellar -- probably waited too long? But fruit and tannin perfectly balanced.

Bring in 'da funk! For the first 30 minutes this one was dominated by its funk. As the funk subsided cherries and earth started to circle the glass. Very well-balanced fruit acid match. I wish I had the chance to spend more time with this wine and see if the funk continued to dissipate.

Spice, earth, and cherry fruit need just a few more years to fully integrate. I think this says "Volnay" pretty strongly, but then the label is right in front of me.
