Wallufer Walkenberg Spätlese trocken Riesling

Deep straw in the glass. Nose is buzzing with electric orchard fruit and honeycomb. Ripe citrus, golden apple, and faint tropics on the palate. White tea and honey. Super dry at 13%. Killer.

Compared to the last Becker dry Spatlese tasted, this was less inviting: a bit more mineral & stony, with none of the fruit flavors associated with Riesling to be found. Very chiseled & imagine needs time in bottle/ long decant. You can still taste the precision though.

A true trocken spätlese - virtually zero RS. Golden tropical fruit. Delicious.

A seriously mysterious wine - idiosyncratically traditional, traditionally idiosyncratic. Secondary and tertiary aromas shine, but there’s still plenty of fruit - apricot, nectarine. Smoke, Stone. Wow.

2015 electric. subtle fruit aromas of citrus and kiwi. Dense and a touch earthy on the palate. So long with peach skin and a hint of burnt sugar. Dry.

👅Rocks and acid! That same honeyed tropical fruit, meyer’s lemon and orange blossom. Waxy. Totally dry. Even chalky. That sweet dessert wine nose on a trocken may make this divisive…But I LOVE it!❤️

👃Totally beautiful and boldly wafts from the glass
👅 Honeyed tropical fruits like lychee, plus lemon. But there is that ACID 👍. The finish is dry, smoked rocks. So fruity and so dry! Unchanged from Day 1. And I still LOVE it!💕
