So beautiful. Like being in an orchard in the fall. Molasses and ginger on the nose and the most vivid apple aromas- seeds and skins. Fairly dry, with an earthy character, very fine texture and ample body.

Hans Josef Becker makes classic, old-style Rheingau Rieslings that age forever...this '89 Spätlese was drying out a bit due to high amounts of botrytis but who cares? It was tits and ass with roast duck at Weinhaus/Hotel Zum Krug in Hattenheim!

I prefer my Rieslings dry and although not bone dry, the residual sugar is very light. Lots of flavor. Fruit and a minerality that bordered on metallic. Really tasty.
