This Sangiovese was complex yet explosive and compact - did not like it at first as needed air but got better and opened up as it still a baby - rest them for five years and drink over the next 40 years - not a fruit bomb like I thought but a dancer of tastes and smells - WE gave it 96 and I can see why

Cassis, fresh coconut, roasted coconut, cocoa powder, cocoa nibs. Presents on the nose as both mannerly and as a tightly-packed bomb of violets. Explodes on the palate in a panoply of fine, fresh and lifted flavors that echo the violet and cassis elements introduced in the aromas. The finish lasts more than a minute and is already suggestive of old Margaux and the greatest of Tuscan Sangiovese. #sangiovese #isoleeolena #toscana

Beautiful 2013 Super Tuscan. Needed to breathe for an hour, now getting happy and delicious! Beautiful color and complexity now that is opening up. Went into the wine cellar with the Som and we selected. Awesome farm to table restaurant outside of Positano on top of the mountain. Don’t miss the opportunity.

This is probably my favourite Sangiovese for the money so thought I’d take one for the community & try the new 2015 @ £65 so you know if you should buy 😉 The 07 is stunning now & this 15 is drinking well but should be just as fab but is lighter at present 😉 We drank 3 bottles over the weekend 😊 Oakier than others I’ve had but not dominating 😉

🐮 The 3rd bottle paired perfectly w/ Mrs Es slow cooked Beef Stew & Dumplings in gloopy gravy 😍 on a cold rainy ☔️ day

👃 Smokey oak infused cherry w/ tones on spiced black fruits, minerals, cranberry, cedar chards & light herbs

👄 Med body of smooth red cherry & black berry in touch dry minerals w/ a slight mocha & cranberry tones coming through

🎯 Med+ big red cherry boom w/ a slight sweet black berry undertone oozing through mineral, red berry & mocha w/ a dry oaky linger
