This is a very good Chianti, but I have to admit: stylistically, and for my purposes (matching wine with the food I and my wife cook), I generally like the regular, fresher Chiantis over the darker, more wooded Riservas and the new Gran Selecciones. But this is a very well made Riserva. Dark, slightly sour but ripe cherry fruit intermingled with balsamic. Some gravelly notes. Good intensity and balance in the mouth, but focusing on darker, leathery notes more than fruit. Some puckery tannin comes out at the end.

Drink up. Fruit is on the way out, but secondary and tertiary notes are very nice. Lots of balsamic and gravel notes. Good acids and intensity.

Darkluly colored. Classic dark cherry and leather nose. Firmly tannic and nearly off dry with ripeness. Better with meat than pasta.

Medium ruby color. Medium+ intense of aromas: cherry, blackberry, red plum, milk chocolate, cream. Developing. Medium+ acidity. Medium+ tannins, medium body. Flavor intensity medium+, cherry, red plum, chocolate . Bitterness in the finish. The finish is medium+.
Too young, woody.
Keep, drink later.

Very tight- dark fruits, still very firey, dry, and tannic. Will let other bottle age more and see if it improves, but harsher than I'd like.

Not a fan. Cherry, super tannic with bitter oak. Way better Riservas out there

A little funky and a lot satisfying. There was a lot of floaty, algae-like sediment that was impossible to completely decant out. A little funk on the nose adds a twist to some very classic smoky/gravelly earthiness and macerated choke cherry fruit. Soft textured and nicely balanced. The flavors are sultry. Clingy dark dark cherry and leathery earth. Lowish acids, but that doesn't detract. Probably peaking, I'd say.

"One hour decant before tasting. Nose was still a bit tight but I got a little bit of dark cherries from it. Palate was mostly cherries, with a bit of leather and earth. Still pretty grippy and quite dry. All in all, quite enjoyable."
