Huia
Marlbourough Sauvignon Blanc
It is Friday night, let the weekend begin. I have opened the 2019 Huia Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. A Biodynamic, organically grown grapes from Clair & Mike Allan.
This nose is full of citrus notes, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, melon, white flowers, herbs and minerality.
On the palate there is plenty of lime, grapefruit, guava, white peach, melon, nectarine and good minerality.
This wine is medium bodied with a smooth silky mouthfeel and medium + acidity that moves seamlessly into a long crisp fresh citrus finish. Have a great weekend, please be safe and stay healthy. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂

Clear pale lemon color with clean pronounced aromas of citrus, herbs, blossom and stone fruits. On the palate flavors of apple, pineapple, grass and lemon peel, vivid acidity on a medium body frame. Medium length finish ending with a touch of fresh mineral citrus. Drink now while it’s fresh, no bottle age benefit.

Mar 21st, 2019New Zealand SB, for me it’s very 2007 (that was the year of my NZSB phase), but THIS is another story. This wine is freaking fantastic. Not heavy on the grass, but racy and with a lighter touch on the citrus. A little saline and briney. Delicious.

Mar 17th, 2018I must admit. New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is just not my thing. The grass. The grapefruit. I get it. But this is nice. More subdued. All what most people like about New Zealand in a more sophisticated way.

1 person found it helpfulApr 17th, 2014An example of a wine being better than the classic examples. Hand picked, organic farming means it has fewer green pyrazine notes. A little grassy but not as intensely jalapeño
