A little bit too much. I wouldn’t drink a whole bottle and for me that’s the telltale. #sbcountywines #sbcounty #calichard

Clear and bright pale lemon. Clean pronounced aromas of ripe apricot, sage, fennel and gingerbread. On the palate it's dry albeit with a lush glyceric texture with medium plus intensity flavors of of apricot pie with a smiley charred crust and a touch of nutmeg and spice. Medium plus alcohol, medium plus acidity, well integrated oak, balanced with a medium plus finish. Complex, unique and well balanced. Only 22 barrels. #staritahills #chardonnayfromthebestplaceonearth #chardonnay #centralcoastwine #californianwine #sbcountywines

Dec 29th, 2016Lemon and still a bit of oak, but a favorite of guests with Christmas Day apps.

Dec 27th, 2018Absolutely convinced that John Hilliard’s wines need several years in bottle before they really start to show. This one is not at the level of the Venus bottling, but it’s quite good.

Jul 22nd, 2018Have been somewhat disappointed with the HB chards recently (with the exception of the Venus wines - which are fantastic) - but this 2013 is drinking quite well. Honeysuckle on the nose with hints of lemon and vanilla, this medium-bodied wine has a nice (but not particularly deep) mid-palate, reasonable acidity, and a balanced, lingering finish. Doesn't quite compare to an Aubert or Diatom (two totally different animals, I know: I'm talking about the level of complexity), but this is still a very enjoyable wine.
