Last night I decided to start opening some older wines I have stored in my wine room. This is the 2010 Groth Oakville Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. The blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, spice, tar, mineral and gravel
On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, bell pepper, spice, licorice, gravel and earth.
This wine is full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + fine rounded tannins that leaves you with a long dark fruit graphite gravel finish. I hope everyone is doing well. This wine really surprised me with the 14 years of age on it. Was a beautiful bottle. Have a great weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Brown sugar. Big red fruit - cranberry and raspberry. Still tannic 13 years later. Balanced yeast & barrel. Clove and allspice. Rosemary. Very enjoyable in its current form, but could keep aging a bit.

Much like the Hobbs., this one was one a gentle decline. Fun to drink at this point in its life to see the evolution of the wine in bottle.

Wow. Unbelievably delicate, yet still structured. Gorgeous tannins they have softened over time.
