Golan Heights Winery
Yarden Galilee Chardonnay
This wine has a remarkable fruit profile on the nose, with lemon aromas being predominant. The is a slight herbal note along with a very reasonable amount of oak spice. The barrel aging, which was only seven months, comes on most noticeably on the palate, but the wood is used to great effect.

Mar 26th, 2024The 2021 Yarden Chardonnay has a lemony nose with orange peel and pear notes, and minerality that beats out butter. It smells almost unoaked. On the palate, the citrus is out front again, with an even stronger lean into the minerals. Acidity is fresh and zesty. Oak is not a problem in this very enjoyable wine.

Dec 28th, 2019In my quest to compare old v new world kicking it off with olld world. I was worried this would be an oak bomb based on some previous vintages but there is restraint here. Golden vanilla and somehow green on the nose. The palate is bordering on rich but not. Cool climate fun that is balanced by baking spice and sass. I like this. If you want kosher for Passover (albeit not mevushal) this is for you. Iโm neither of those things but finding it a pleasant Chard that flirts with oak just enough to keep enjoying.
