Giuseppe Quintarelli
Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend
I think back to 2004... I was in high school. Wild.
Great wine. Great house.
Kinda feel like this could have been opened up few years ago and been at its peak.

Aged to perfection, it takes on a whole new life. Something you can only do with a well-made wine.

May 22nd, 2023The 2015 Valpolicella Classico Superiore lifts up with unprecedented freshness as a beautiful mix of fresh cherries, cloves and cedar is complemented by rosy florals. This is a model of purity, slightly salty in character, with crisp red fruits and sweet spice nuances. It tapers off lightly structured and perfumed, leaving the palate perfectly reset as a tinge of minerality lingers. The warm vintage 2015 is complex yet finessed. Simply stunning. Mar 23rd, 2023Popped and poured; consumed over a several hour period. The 2006 Valpolicella Classico Superior pours a deep, translucent garnet. Medium viscosity with moderate staining. On the nose, bright cherries, a sort of vegetal thing that I couldn't quite place, a touch of smoke and some varnish; definitely some VA but nothing out of the ordinary. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose with the addition of some orange pith. The body is a little thin and the finish is medium and slightly bitter. This was good but didn't stir my soul like Quintarelli has been able to do in the past. Perhaps more time will help this gain some flesh and shed the green notes. I don't see any indication of it falling off anytime soon but does holding it longer reward you down the road?

Feb 24th, 2023Rich, smooth and in balance with that abv power. Strong notes of pipe tobacco and cocoa.

Sep 28th, 2022The 2014 Valpolicella Superiore Classico is pretty and understated with nuances of strawberry, hints of white smoke and dusty rose. This is lean in feel yet cool-toned and lifted, with mineral-tinged wild berry fruits and a savory herbal streak that saturates the palate. It tapers off long and almost salty, with violet and lavender tones that linger. The 2014 is a less powerful yet very pretty version of Quintarelli Valpolicella. It was tasted twice, once from a fresh bottle and then tasted from a bottle that was opened three days prior. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2022)

Slightly bricky on the edge
It starts quite funky and porty
But it opens up, yes it does
The shades of complexity are numerous
Cherry and plum
Black pepper and incense
Cinnamon and aniseed, perhaps chestnuty
Mouth is of a soft velvet, ethereal, multidimensional
Super enjoyable and extra long
It vanished too quickly, but i am sure this is a kind of wine it would show even better the day after
Truly couldn't feel any of the 15.5% of alcohol..i actually have enjoyed them

Jan 25th, 2021This is a massive wine. Lots of sweet humus and wet earth, rich berry ooze, and sandalwood. Large bodied, with peppery alcoholic heat peaking through, but good acidity nonetheless. It’s 15%, and if it were a degree less, it would’ve been outstanding. As is, it was a fine accompaniment to a rich pasta sauce and braised pork braccioles.
