Dinner at the producer’s restaurant Buon Padre in Vergne, just west of Barolo; the wine is deep blueish-purple in color and with viscous leggy texture (dry, 14% alc.); blue and dark tart fruits and country spices on the nose; medium acids and dry small tannins on the palate with a fruity sinple and robust character, without oak. Seems very well made.

Drank 7/5/19.

Overripe cherry and leather scents, yield to ripe red cherry, earth, and leather flavors. This feels a touch hot (14.5% alcohol) and ripe. Medium plus tannins back lingering, ripe, red cherry fruit on the finish.

2/22/6/3/4 + 50 = 87 pts.

Purchased at Costco for around $13. Not bad, but go with the Renato Ratti bottling for around $2 more.

Hay, woodsmoke, blackberry. Fairly heavy with an excellent, dry mouthfeel. This barbera doesn't pull punches.

Another solid vintage of this consistently well made wine. Dark ruby/purple color. Intense aromas of blue and black fruit, red and purple flowers and wet stones. Blackberry, boysenberry and plum fruit on the palate with additional flavors of coffee and minerals. Long and earthy finish. Deep and dark concentration. Medium bodied and very silky tannin structure. Mouth watering acidity. Food friendly. Very good representation of the varietal. Thanks for sharing, Keith S!
