The nose is really pretty showcasing classic Nebbiolo notes of cherries, rose petals, dried herbs, and tar. You’d never know this is more than a decade old as it presents a striking ruby color in the glass with the faintest hint of orange near the rim. Unfortunately the palate is a bit clumsy and disjointed. The red fruit is pure and concentrated initially but takes a sharp turn towards bitterness that never fully resolves. The tannin and acidity work in tandem providing grip and a youthful freshness. Hoping this is in a dumb stage and just needs more time to fully integrate, but the fruit quality is a bit concerning for long term aging.

Expressive nose with hints of coffee, plums, dry cherries. Medium bodied with present but polished tannins (on the soft side for a Nebbiolo). Good acid and length.

Thin Barolo, with no body and flat flavor. There is slight cherry flavor which quickly washes out. The finish is slightly harsh but not terrible.

This was my very first sip of wine after finding out I was pregnant in July of 2018 and giving birth one week ago. It's not a wine I would normally go for as it was thinner and drier than my taste but I ended up really liking it! Nice choice Liz!

Maybe not a 95, but certainly a very well made Barolo, typical and pleasant at the nose and mouth. 2012 vintage great value at Costco
