The Bricat vineyard is a unique site located within the Gramolere MGA that just so happens to be planted to a healthy percentage of the rare Nebbiolo Rose. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2014 “Bricat” pours a striking pale garnet color with an orange-ish rim and a transparent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears and no signs of sediment. On the nose a beautiful perfume of tart cherry, roses, tar, dried herbs and dried earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. The finish is long, lovely. 2014 was a challenging year throughout Barolo but some producers were able to do quite a lot, despite the challenges. In those cases where hail didn’t annihilate the vines, their efforts in the vineyard to overcome the challenges associated with rain resulted in beautifully honest expressions of the terroir. The 2014 “Bricat” by the Manzone family is such an example. Drink now and through 2034 with ease.

Just lovely and a really nice expression of Gramolere with just a touch more heft than the latter version would display. Not quite the magnitude of the 2013 Bricat but still massively satisfying. Tannins are are still quite firm so years to go yet. Lovely now though...if you’re somewhat masochistic 😉

Bringing the power, the 2013 Bricat is packed with dark cherry, plums, roses and tar. Everything you want from a great Barolo. A very sturdy wine with enough structure and balance to last decades but seriously pleasurable now.

Doesn’t get much better than a well-made Barolo. This is my favourite grape. Earth. Leather. Tar. Forest berries. So much aging potential. So much.

Drinks beautifully! As usual; Manzone's Barolo are very accessible/drinkable from their early years and have a great aging potential.

Excellent wine with some fruit mainly strawberries and some earthy elements. Very smooth and integrated with a long finish. Think it would have been a bit better with some time but it was opened and poured.

Light, rich, burst of cherry, paired nicely with pasta carbonara.

Typical Barolo (and I love Barolos). Earthy, leather, tobacco, and strawberries. Fine tannins. Decanted for about five hours, popped the cork about two hours before that. Paired beautifully with lamb.
