Well over the hill (feeble colour, astringent nose, crumbling palate). I know some would say this was never meant to last 33 years, but if you can't make a village GC that will last from a year like '83 then you drop down a large notch in my book. Two bottles, both from a good cellar, with great levels. Identical notes so it wasn't down to having a bad bottle.

Transparent cherry red color. Slight coffee, mushroom loam nose, mild but obvious new oak add -staves, chips. Bright palate Meyer lemon red fruit. Will remove tooth enamel swallow quickly.

2023 vintage. Loved the 2022 vintage of this and gave it a 9.2 (6.12.25). This is slightly better. Medium body. Nice chocolate notes up front. Beautiful balance now. 3.23.26.

Mar 14th, 20262022 vintage. Medium-medium heavy body. Chalky cherry nose. A waterfall of flavors with both punch and tannins. Was really close to rating this a 9.3 but held back just barely. This VV can go PNP now or stow it away for a decade. It's got plenty of stuffing to survive and thrive. 06.12.25.
