Georges Lignier et Fils
Clos-Saint-Denis Grand Cru Pinot Noir
Outrageously good - spiced, nuanced, and fascinating. Didn’t want it to end.

Dec 4th, 2022Outrageously fresh with pure red fruit notes, and delicate spice aromas. Magic. Best wine I’ve had in recent memory. Thx for sharing @Chris McClellan partner at DellaVino Imports.

Apr 9th, 2022I don’t think I can remember a burgundy that has smelled so much like a northern Rhône wine. Loved the aromatics! A distinct blood/iron note with herbs, earthiness, and crunchy cranberry. Slightly darker profile on the palate with tar, black raspberries, rose petals and some spice. Good acidity here...not sharp nor flabby, with a soft profile after a short decant.

Jul 17th, 2016This 1978 Clos Saint Dennis Grand Cru is showing still wonderfully at the age of 37 years old, a bit past its prime but still enjoyable. Terra cotta color, nose full of mushroom, leather, dry tea leaves, a hint of black fruits, medium body, with light tannins and still good acidity and short finish. My score 85, drink up.

Sep 19th, 2015The 2012 Georges Lignier Clos Saint Denis and the 2009 Domaine Harmond-Geoffroy Mazis Chambertin. The latter was one of my favorites of the Rosenthal tasting today!

Mar 1st, 20152008. Very young. Not my fault. This wine knows what it is doing. Seasoned. Masculine. Not a dandy, but beautiful perfume.

Feb 20th, 2015Nose a bit closed, but palate is lovely. Stones, berries, herbs. Hint of ‘11 green-ess, but it seems to blow off with time and come across as simply attractive freshness. Grand cru level weight comes through with time in decanter.
