The 2019 Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati is laced with wild dark cherry, plum, spice, leather, tobacco, incense and scorched earth. In this vintage, the Coste & Fossati is a bit more aromatic and less weighty than it can be, but it is nevertheless delicious, not to mention one of the most distinctive Dolcettos readers will come across. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2021)

#dolcetto #piemonte more charcoal and ash to this vintage and this vintage and mineral and fine grained tannins less dense. First vintage going back to submerged cap.

Nov 13th, 2018Pure pleasure, love this wine 😸. Structured, complex, lengthy expression of Dolcetto. Firm tannin, deeply mineral, lots of sweet herbal notes, juicy black fruit, cinnamon, fresh earth.

Beautiful, dark sour cherries, with a bit of kirsch and a touch of spice. Juicy, very juicy on the palate with fresh, sappy tannins and great purity of fruit. Slightly rustic yet full of character and personality. This is just a beauty and even better slightly chilled.
A great wine.

Surprisingly wonderful dolcetto. Dark cherries, earth, and vanilla on the nose. Medium body and soft balance. Paired amazingly with steak tartar.

2 people found it helpfulNov 13th, 2015Nose has ripe blackberry, wet leather, wet metallic rocks and shaved dark chocolate.
Palate has ripe blueberry, tannic blackberry, hibiscus tea with medium tannins and a long finish. Impressive wine.
Color is amazing, dark purple, almost could be viewed as CA Syrah or Spanish Grenache. A gifted bottle from a Tastevin brother who's come to know my palate, a delicious offer. Best Dolcetto I've tasted, weighty and beautiful, yet youthful.
