The 2015 Gaja #Barolo Conteisa might be one of the most elegant and graceful examples of Barolo I’ve tasted ~ from the moment of pulling the cork red cherry & strawberry, roses, potpourri & tar leapt out ~ a silky version of the same poured & though paired w wild mushroom bechamel lasagna & truffle fries the wine actually showed best on its own

150+ years ago Giovanni Gaja opened small restaurant in Barbaresco, making wine to complement his food. 1859, he founded the Gaja Winery. Winery has been shaped by that of Angelo Gaja. Ruby, rich berry fruits aromas with earthy toasty oak notes. Palate, juicy cherry and raspberry with tobacco, black pepper, leather, structured tannins, wild acidity on rich long finish ending with espresso character. Just stating to show off. Needs Cellaring! Pricey, but Nice!!

Dense. Menthol on nose. Raspberry and tobacco most prominent in a tightly wrapped, luxurious body. Celebrating with old friends for first time in ages. Had with Pizzeria Bianco.

Dense and heady. Needs 2-10 more years. Complex AF with lots of changing notes. Raspberries and dark cherries. Menthol and cinnamon. Needs food and healthy decant.
