Drank 1/17/19. Paired with pizza.
Pleasant, but simple nose of sweet red cherry and a some tilled soil. Simple red and black cherry with some tar on the palate. Perhaps a bit muddy, but overall a well balanced finish backed by medium tannins. A nice everyday drinker for Italian food.
3/20/7/3/3 + 60 = 86 pts.

2014. Gifted a few wines from a friend whose wife had them stored in an upper kitchen cabinet for many years. Cork was sound, but when I poured it out my daughter asked if it was supposed to be brown. (It’s not, but there is definitely some bricking at the rim.) Some tart cherry and earthy aromas and still a little acidity on the finish. Pairing with stuffed green peppers in tomato sauce, so it will do its job.

Interesting, complex lighter-style #chianticlassico. Pretty much nonexistent red fruit up front on the nose, loads of mushroom instead, distant bramble fruit on the back. Hefty acidity up front on palate, distinctive #sangiovese iron notes, mushroom, leather and moderate plus tannins on finish. Great wine for mushroom pasta or a mushroom burger.

NOSE: a bit of vinegar right out of the bottle … calmed down after chilling a tiny bit, but now doesn’t smell like much of anything. A little bit of black tea? Something savoury and peppery. I am very skeptical.
TASTE: it’s fine! Cherry. Acid. Light, but inoffensive. Dead simple. Bitter finish. Unsure how much I paid, maybe $6. It’s probably worth that. 83-84. I wish I could try it tomorrow to see if it’s better, I suspect it might be. May try again.

Very mild. A little too light, not enough umph.

Jan 10th, 2020Yes. Great Chianti. Dry but smooth. Excellent with heavy red sauce or for Lasagne making day.
