Always happy to revisit this cuvée, it was one of the first “ah ha” grower Champagne moments for me. Beautiful nose, great precision, crystalline and layered. Golden orchard fruit, candied lime, strawberry, hay, verbena, salty lees and rocks. Harmonious dosage that iced the cake for me. 100 PN, 1/2017 disgorgement

Intense and opulent with and aromatic, candy like aroma which is sort of “simple”. Way better of the palate, even though the 7 grams of RS is very obvious. Juicy finish with great purity but no real complexity. Fair length. Degorged Oct-17.

Fascinating wine. So much going on. Super vinous, even cidery. Gold in the glass, a little oxidative, looong finish. Some subtle green flavors, a leafy wild herbal thing. Deep, tooth tingling acid, but mature, white balsamic-type acid. Yeasty but long-fermented sourdough type yeasty. Madeleines and lemon marmelade. Enjoy this with rich food, like roast game bird. Or Cheetos. We paired it with Cheetos. Deg sept 2019.

A great Blanc de Noir from one of the more reasonably priced growers, structured and expressive with ripe pear, raspberry and crisp yellow apple with a chalky minerality.

Pale gold with coppery overtones. Aromas of yellow apple and pear. On the palate the fruit is complimented by a chalky minerality, focused acidity, and a clean finish with only 12% alcohol. Made from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from clay-based souls of Ecueil then fermented half in mostly neutral barrels and half in stainless steel with dosage of 7 g/L. This is their entry level non-vintage bottling made from a blend of three successive vintages. $50.

Vinous team outing at Morrell in Rockefeller Center! Savart offers an unctuous Champagne - leesy and palate coating. It’s more oxidative flavors find a more red-fruited finish, tasting of brioche meets raspberry liqueur. Gratifying on this late April evening in the city.

Stunning wine from Savart. Focused with green apples and lemon and red berries. Crushed oyster shells and brioche. A beauty, especially on a gorgeous spring day in New York overlooking the Rockefeller building from the wine garden at Morrells.
