Clear gold in the glass. Classic Chenin nose of golden delicious apple and hay; echoed on the palate. Medium full body. Bright acidity. Medium finish. Great with swordfish steak.

Always thinking about past vintages and lushness and volume. Wishing.

Pale concentration of straw yellow. Restrained fresh fruit, lemon scented candle wax, pear, and a hint of honey. Medium plus body, smooth texture, dry, high acid is balanced by a touch viscosity. A touch of phenolic bitterness and astringency. Well balanced but high alcohol throws a slight prickle on the lips. Medium concentration of refreshing, citrus, mineral driven finish. Basil and Beeswax linger.

This program doesn't recognize what I am reviewing which is the reserve ( good year ) Chenin Blanc. This is hands down the best California Chenin I have experienced.

The 2013 Chenin Blanc Ernesto Wickenden Vineyard Old Vines is soft, supple and accessible. Pear, melon, almonds and spices inform the expressive, silky finish. This is an impeccable white from Foxen to drink now and over the next few years. (AG)

Thinly sliced white nectarine. Too cold initially but jasmine and honey suckle aromas kick in.
Muted flavors need more time to develop. Not sure there is a lot here at this stage to show through.
Only drank half the bottle at the restaurant and am working through the balance the next day.
The Chenin Blanc has opened up significantly since yesterday. Lemon curd now adds to the aromas.
Faint floral Honey and creme brûlée now express on the palette. The finish finally lasts as anticipated.
Makes me wonder if I should travel with a decanter...

Chenin Blanc is simply the best white wine - excellent honeyed finish - perfect for an afternoon on the porch with friends.
