2014 honeydew melon, honeysuckle and kiwi notes. Good balance and clean finish. — 8 years ago
Not typical Viognier. White flower floral with a hint ripe melon and tropical fruit.
Flavors mimic the nose with sweet fruit on the palate and without some of the soapiness that can come with flabby Viognier.
Clean drinking white that pairs well with a number of dishes. — 8 years ago
Color indicates the depth both in aroma and flavor. Bing cherry and stewed ripe raspberries in the nose. Lavender top note drills to both cranberry and macerated mulberry as a solid flavor foundation. The acidity holds the amalgam of flavors on the back palate for a long time. Enjoyable. — 8 years ago
So color is appropriate. I am not familiar with this region but aromatically it seems as if a surface yeast film was allowed to develop during aging on purpose. Aldehydic aromatic notes with sherry like flavors dominate.
Sharp acidity showcases lemon and grapefruit pith.
I'm guessing the wine is true to type but it is not for me as it is stuck in between stylistic wine and pre-sherry. It is a good memory bookmark though.
Always good when a wine inspires more research! — 8 years ago
Pleasantly surprised this wine hung in there. I generally hate plastic corks and had trepidation with this wine but at 15 years of age shows tobacco, tar, French prune. Stewed dark fruit fruit flavors with some earthy background. Zero tannin but finish lingers. — 8 years ago
I had some trepidation about the age of the wine as it has been hiding out in the back of my wine cooler for almost 2 decades.
The cork needed an ahso to extract it and the bottle has some significant sediment but I could tell immediately the wine was in great shape.
Solid red core with garnet edges. Pomegranate, blackberry and black pepper aromas. Initial sweet peak with raspberry, jammy mulberry and anise glides across the palette. Still enough acidity for structure and holds the berry / cranberry and ash finish for a long time.

A wine I've reviewed before and continues to reward. Ribeyes from Costco also don't disappoint! — 8 years ago
