A pungent, but not explosive, nose of green. Limes, green tea, gooseberries, green beans and watercress are expressed. Gripping acidity and very ripe tropical fruits dominate the palate. At only 9%, it leaves the senses as quick as it enters.

Love me some Forrest Wines 'The Doctors' Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc this time year!
Instead of reaching for those sleepy time, high octane reds, why not something fresh & crunchy reminiscent of dewy green grass, freshly sliced cantaloupe & perfectly ripened kiwi? At only 9%, and $18, I'm in!

I get that it’s naturally and sustainably farmed, but kind of weird that they put the 9.5% alcohol on the label so front and center. Marketing ploy? Dunno. Anyway… silly criticism.

These wines have a lot of hype, especially the Riesling but it’s NZ so Sauv Blanc is my weapon of choice. This is a more subdued version than others. Less tomato vine and more general garden herbs. Some grapefruit, of course. Tight but not too so. Full and round texture. I’m not blown away but I don’t hate it either.

Here’s another option for you if you’re looking for a lower alcohol wine.

A big thanks to NZ Lighter Wines for this sample of The Doctors 2018 Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand which sits at 9.5% abv (alcohol by volume).

The Doctors are part of the New Zealand Sustainable Winegrowers group. This wine has in fact been given a stellar write up on Jancis Robinsons website and you can understand why with its full flavour, wonderful balance and naturally lower alcohol content.

We found it a pale lemon shade in the glass. Candied citrus zest, guava, tropical fruits and minerality come through on the nose. While in the mouth it’s the perfect palate cleanser, think Granny Smith apples, zesty acidity and plentiful gooseberries.

This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Light, crisp, lower alcohol. Subtle tropical flavours, not masses of finish but is a SB. Was drinkable and a nice accompaniment to a light Chinese - cutting through flavours albeit without the richer aromatic boldness that often helps.

Sauvignon blanc light; all of the flavors you'd expect with the volume turned down. Very easy drinking but would rather have a beer to fill that spot

At Piz Gloria, with friends. Cold meat platter, cheese. Minerals, some floral notes. One to thoroughly enjoy.
