Feb 20th, 2018This was a great find. Dark purple in the glass with long legs and a powerful dark fruit, plum and raisin nose. Smooth, concentrated palate that is dense and rich without being overly sweet, tannins are there to give a slightly dry finish but fruit prevails with some cinnamon sprinkles in the mix. Italian primitivo masquerading as Paso Robles Zinfandel, lovely stuff.

Primitivo, grown in the heat of Puglia in southern Italy, will never pretend to have the complexity of its cooler-climate contemporaries, but even by Primitivo’s standards this was overbearingly sweet and jammy, with little else to redeem itself. The mouthfeel was fairly one-dimensional; the finish did have some length and savoury quality, but not enough.
I have another bottle, which I’ll forget about for five or so years and see how it is then.

Vino rosso corposo, molto adatto insieme a carni dal sapore forte secondo me.
