Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of four days. Best on Day 1 and Day 2 though, still enjoyable on Day 4. Personally, I just think the freshness in day one and two was more redeeming. The 2020 pours a deep ruby color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe bramble fruit, black cherry, new leather, carnations, dried thyme and subtle baking spices. On the palate, the white is dry, medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with the addition of a coffee character, more like espresso. The finish his medium+. This is a notable, modern take on Chianti Classico without the DOCG. Drink now through 2030+. Solid with pizza.

I generally shy away from super Tuscans but this was delicious. Floral perfume, complete.

Welcome to the long Holiday weekend. Tonight I have opened the 2016 Fattoria La Massa Toscana Super Tuscan. The blend is 65% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

On the nose I am getting black plum, blackberry, black cherry, red currant, licorice, menthol, dried roses and dry earth.

The palate reveals the notes of tart cherry, plum, raspberry, red currant, violet, licorice and dry earth.

The wine is full bodied with a round velvety mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + fine mouth coating tannins that lead to a fresh long finish. Hopefully everyone has a fun holiday weekend planned and let it be a safe one. Nostrovia!

2012 highly rated Super Tuscan. Aromas of moist earth and truffles, dark fruit. Very smooth right out of the bottle. Long finish. Will open up in the glass.

The entry-level 2017 La Massa is rich, sumptuous and fabulously delicious. Supple and easygoing, La Massa packs a serious punch. Best of all, it is a terrific value. Short macerations bring out tons of juiciness in this forward, voluptuous, affordable red. $20.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2019)

What a "super Tuscan" should be. Good balance of aged old world Cabernet character with Sangiovese fruit and acidity. I mean acid for days.

Sangiovese blended with Cabernet. Ripe cherry fruit with an herbaceous and oak-spiced edge. Lush and polished.
