2012. I walked this beautiful estate in 2012. Was a treat to have it paired with suckling pig and fresh beans in broth. The wine itself while still young is rich and gorgeous.

The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape offers a full-bodied, decadent style to go with awesome black and blue fruits, garrigue, licorice, crushed flowers and violets. The purity here is truly something, and it has fabulous mid-palate concentration, building tannin and massive texture. Given all of the fruit and texture here, it will no doubt drink well in its youth, but it should still be alive and kicking after two decades as well.

Love this wine and this amazing vineyard/family/producer/artisan. 90 minute decant. Enjoyed with grilled filets from DeBragga and roasted Brussels sprouts w/bacon, garlic, olive oil & sea salt. Spectacular meal! . In honor of Mother’s Day. Cheers to all!

Don’t usually drink Beaucastel this young but thought about breaking into the case. Bright future!

6/7 years old is the youngest I’ve had Beaucastel. For me, I prefer 10-15 years old. Currently it’s lush and intense, bursting with black fruits, maraschino sweetness, and spicy licorice. It stains the glass and lingers on the palette, lasting a bit too long if you’re having it with a meal. This is a drinker’s wine today.

Dark, dark color with legs that go on for days. Forest floor and meat on the nose. Tannins are low and a round texture. Blackberry, plum, cedar. Long finish, but not super complex at this stage (for a Beaucastel). What a wonderful wine, that in 5-10 years in the cellar will be fantastic.
