Winery Sixteen 600, Enterprise Vineyards and the Moon Mountain District
9.5
In that great place where the intensity and gaminess is giving way to tart cherry and limestone minerality but the fresh, bold flavors are still holding on.

Mag. Big juicy baked red and black fruit flavors, spice cake, garrigue, licorice, roasted game, slightly secondary but mostly unevolved. Great stuff but a little early on this one, suffered by comparison with Rayas and Allemand in same flight. Life is so hard sometimes

Favourite Beaucastel CDP of the night (beside a '89 and '95). Slightly shy at the beginning with only whiffs of figs. After an hour of air, this evolved to a different animal with plums, figs, oak and wet earth. On the palate this was equally diverse and had a balanced structure which will age gracefully.
