Famille Dutraive
Clos du Chapitre Saint-Amour Gamay
Zippy, energetic and elegant.
On the nose the bubblegum hits you first, followed by earth and sweeter red fruit than you'd expect. The palate is a frenzied mix of red fruits and flowers, dancing on your tongue like little ballerinas.
Really good, really fun Beaujolais.

Medium ruby, subtle spritz; medium intensity aromas of cranberry, red currant, tart red cherry, musty cellar; dry, medium plus acid, medium minus tannins, medium plus alcohol, medium minus body, subtle spritz, medium intensity flavors of cranberry, red currant, red cherry, raspberry, musty; medium finish, not sure if flawed or just a natural wine

Oct 17th, 2022Fantastic Beaujolais. Only complaint is the red wax they dip the top of the wine in crumbles everywhere when you are trying to chisel it away. Sweet cherries on the nose. Booming acidity. Another find from the cellar that I don’t even remember buying. Thoroughly going to enjoy this while the sleet hammers the windows while watching the Masters.

Apr 8th, 2022Oh gamay, every time you think you’ve discovered all the various flavors and iterations of this grape you find something else. Tried this one from high Street wine company and they were spot on when they said that the spiced berry and minerality of it will just overwhelm you. This one is eminently quaffable, just like the French say. It goes down way too easy and just has such delicious and transient flavors which express themselves fully on the palette. You can add some food in there if you want to try to tease up more flavors from it but the grape is not shy and it shows you everything is has from the get go. You know that girl you meet when you’re growing up and she goes from your best friend to looking like a model, she’s too young to realize what she can do with her looks but she’s old enough to know that you can’t take your eyes off of her? She is this grape.
