Exceptional wine. Incredibly complex nose of spice and floral arrangement: rose, lavender, and magnolia. Beautiful tart cherry and earth, good warm spices and a show of white pepper. All this alongside a rounding umami feel. Tannins are perfectly balanced. Totally smitten.

2016 is a brilliant wine with intensity, brightness, depth and finesse. High-toned, floral and spice-accented wild red fruit character surging throughout. Very firm acidity and impressive tannin structure for aging. I love the balance and energy of this vintage and can’t wait to see it in another few years.

A beautiful nose of soft red fruits, some spice, soulful plummy stuff. Very burgundinian but the plushness of US Pinot. On the palate this has great poise. Light but intense this has lovely fresh fruit and some gnarly wild herbs with underlying acidity and good length. Apparently the ‘j’ refers to Jayer cuttings being the source of the Pinot. If so, that would go some way toward explaining why this is so aromatic and balanced. Excellent

Poised red cherry and raspberry. Hint of green. Charming floral notes. Very elegant style. This needs to go back to cellar and revisit in at least 5 years.

Drinking great. Comparable style and quality to a top 10 year old Premier Cru. Cuvée J always needs the most bottle age amongst the Evesham collection. Drink the other bottlings if you want to enjoy it young.

The 2012 "Cuvee J." I got this the same time as the non-J version of the Puits Sec, 2013 vintage, and I must admit I preferred the latter. The fruit on this one is more up-front New World in style and while it does mellow out a bit with some airtime, it's also more monolithic without either the elegance or detail of the lesser bottling, from the lesser vintage...

Pretty, bright, savory, aromatic. Spice. Very nice. Harmony. Mistook for a nice Burgundy, blind. Sassafras.

Not as interesting as I had hoped, but still approachable and tasty. This wine has some of that Dr. Pepper cola flavor going on, with subtle vanilla and spice.

Fruit forward and fresh. A big right turn from the 2011, but still delightful with herb chicken and garlic green beans.
