Took time to open and display a distinct Burgundy persona that picks up weight after being more Chablis at the start. Still tart with apple, lemon and melon flavors driven by the sur lie aging, saline and light mineral. Displays clean, fresh oak with cashew and vanilla. Impressive. Definitely distinctly lighter weight than CA Chardonnay

Drinks like a GC burg. Mineral laden with a mesmerizing texture and precise yellow apple. I’ll be pondering this for a while.

Out of Magnum. Incredibly polar opposite from the 2007 for a million reasons, most notably 07 was one of the coldest vintages and 15 was one of the warmest vintages on record. Beautiful wine, showing primary fruit right now with great backbone and acidity. This has structure that many 15’s are missing. Something to be said for this being one of the great Chardonnay sites in the world

Mar 20th, 20182007 Summum Chardonnay out of magnum, another Oregon wine that put me on the path to where I am today. Never forget opening this for a woman in Aspen and being so stoked that she hated it so we could drink it all night long. Tasted side by side with the 2015 out of Magnum, tale of two polar opposite vintages. Not a total parallel because the vineyard selection and plantings were different for the bottlings. The 07 is incredible, still young, still has life in front of it, not showing any signs of oxidation. This is benchmark Chardonnay for anywhere in the world, not just Oregon or the new world, as good as it gets. If you’re in the valley for a few days, Evening Land will dig these out of storage for you, they aren’t cheap but worth every penny if you Love Chardonnay.
